Emaar Square is a dense mixed-use development located in Istanbul on the Asian side of the Bosphorous. The 17-hectare development encompasses a 4 story shopping mall, two 30 story office towers, several 6 to 18 story residential towers, and a 64 story hotel and residence tower designed by Norman Foster.
The central plaza is designed as a space that unifies the diverse building program and architectural styles of Emaar Square. An interplay between formal and informal gardens define different areas within the plaza while creating a diverse and animated experience for shoppers and residents. Several skylights that function as fountains provide an amenity at the plaza level while allowing daylight to penetrate into the shopping mall below. One of the defining characteristics of Istanbul is the omnipresent mix of old and new, which have been amassed over centuries to create a contemporary and unique urban experience. Inspired by this dichotomy, Emaar Square will feature several custom details for site amenities and fountains that borrow from traditional Ottoman patterns and contemporary design precedents and materials.
